The compatibility scoring on this site is based on Lau's Triangle of Affinity and Six Conflicts framework, with Western signs cross-referenced against classical Hellenistic correspondences.

Methodology

The Chinese compatibility scoring on this site is based on Theodora Lau's framework, in particular her Triangle of Affinity (groupings of three animals that share elemental sympathy) and the Six Conflicts (animal pairs that classically clash). Lau's system is widely cited in modern Chinese astrology literature; we cite it here under fair use for educational purposes.

Western compatibility uses classical Hellenistic correspondences — element pairings (Fire/Earth/Air/Water), modality interactions (Cardinal/Fixed/Mutable), and aspect geometry between sun signs. These traditions predate any single modern author and are public domain.
